ITANAGAR, Nov 29: A daylong legal awareness programme was conducted today at VKV Nirjuli in collaboration with State NSS Cell.
Speaking at the programme, Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women, chairperson, Mitali Tingkhatra emphasised for Rights of children and women, and detailed on the various atrocities faced by tribal women in the form of physical harassment, mental torture. ITANAGAR, Nov 29: The dwelling house of one Tabom Libang of Ngorlung village, Ruksin of East Siang was burnt to ashes in a fire accident today morning.
The victim has lost all his properties and important documents in the fire, informed Industrial Growth Centre Complex Youth Association.
The Association appealed to the local administration and Relief and Rehabilitation, Disaster Management Department to provide relief and necessary assistance to the victim.
It also appealed to the local MLA and MP to press the state government for the establishment of a fire service station at Ruksin.

ITANAGAR, Nov 29: The people of Leporiang circle under the chairmanship of ZPM Nabam Tara have condemned the ongoing dharna being staged by Arunachal Justice Forum at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi alleging corruption by the state government. The forum has been demanding stepping down of Nabam Tuki as chief minister; white paper on financial mismanagement of NDRE and SDRF schemes among others.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki should be allowed to continue in order to bring proper development to the state, the press release signed by the ZPM said.
They also condemned the dissident MLAs for trying to change the leadership.
Indian Army donates buckets to girl students
ITANAGAR, Nov 29: Colonel R Parthasarathy of Indian Army visited the Girls Residential School at remote Monigong in West Siang district on Saturday. The school is run by Onge Welfare Society, a Mechukha based NGO.
Colonel Phartosharty donated few buckets for the girl students. He also distributed prizes to the winners of the school week held at the school.

DAPORIJO, Nov 29: Upper Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom appealed to the PRI leaders of Chetam and Giba circles to work selflessly for the betterment of the society.
Addressing the PRI leaders at a block level sensitization cum capacity building programme here, Dulom exhorted the Panchayat leaders to render their services for the welfare of the people without thinking of any personal gain.
Parliamentary Secretary Dikto Yekar advised the Panchayat leaders that any problem of villages should be sorted out within the Gram Sabhas. On selection of schemes, the Parliamentary Secretary said that the PRI leaders should prefer such schemes which are viable and beneficial to all the villagers.

The former bureaucrat was sworn in as 19th Governor of Arunachal Pradesh on June 1 this year as rebellious cloud was hanging over Itanagar because of Congress infighting, after his predecessor Lieutenant General (Rtd) Nirbhay Sharma was unceremoniously packed off to Mizoram.
But since he took office, Raj Bhawan has been facing unprecedented shelling of criticism as the Governor has managed to stay in pool of controversy because of his outspoken nature.
In recent times, one occasion when Raj Bhavan was under such scrutiny was during the time of General JJ Singh who had to face a barrage of criticism because of incorrect information he gave when the helicopter carrying Late Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu vanished. Gen Singh had said Khandu’s chopper had landed in Bhutan.
However, if we go by the intensity of criticisms, it is slightly different, because General JJ Singh was castigated publicly by people as emotions ran high as India struggled to locate the missing CM for almost a week.
On the other hand, Governor JP Rajkhowa is being targeted partly because of his links to the Bharatiya Janata Party at center.

Apparently, for the BJP legislators, Rajkhowa was a glimmer of hope to finish off the Tuki government for once and all, already fractured by dissident MLAs, openly opposed to his leadership. The mission to unseat Tuki is on by the Congress MLAs and BJP legislators as of now, but because of unwillingness of the Congress High Command to let go of Tuki, it remains to be seen what happens next.

New Delhi, Nov 29: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday left for Paris to attend the world conference on climate change amid his emphasis that it is the responsibility of all to work against global warming. Prior to his departure, the Prime Minister said in his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat': "The whole world is worried about climate change. There are discussions everywhere over it and concerns are being expressed.... The temperature of the Earth should not increase now. It is the responsibility and concern of all."
His emphasis on the responsibility of all assumes significance as the developed world is trying to place greater onus on developing nations like India in the fight against climate change.

Stop it before it becomes a trend
Dear Editor,
Lately, on visiting a friend in his rented house at Itanagar, I was shocked and disappointed to learn that he is being charged extra Rs 200 per month by the rent owner for parking his bike in the same apartment.
I was further told that four wheelers are charged Rs 500 per month. I personally find it difficult to swallow this fact. I have never heard of such practices in any other places. It seriously does not augur well for the larger section of the society. Of course, most of the rent owners do not undertake such practice but when others are setting it up, it would not take long for such trend to embrace the society. Therefore, it is my earnest request to those rent owners to stop charging parking fee before it becomes a trend.

Smart city Project is yet to begin and our folks have started all sorts of weird speculations. Some of them have even started talking about inclusion and deletion of some places which are strategically unavoidable. Remember, only" fools try build castles in air."
It’s true that conducting fruitful affairs through the art of diplomacy is a complex matter. But one has to overcome all pressure and counter pressures to attain notable success.
So folks, let’s start thinking rationally and start handling both internal and external crisis with strength and confidence.
Smart city is not a pound of meat. It is basically upgradation of whole zone to fulfill all basic needs of the people and nation as a whole. We as whole should be a part of this noble project. Instead of delineating amongst ourselves, we should try and instigate all citizens to support and build strong mindset amongst us for the cause. Some traveler has truly said that" there are more beautiful things in the world, than you have it in your dreams".
Smart city is a humble beginning for the people of Siang belt towards modernisation .So let’s not allow this euphoria die so easily .Remember "Rome was not built in a day “likewise smart city will take time to materializes despite so many controversies looming large ,we all should join our hands not to let the project go away due to immature miscalculations. All ideas leading to crisis should be avoided and political skeletons should shun their differences for better future. Clean image bears better results and also neutralises perpetuated atrocities in today’s world. Instead of shouting your throat out, lets create a conducive environment for the project.

She deserves due recognition

Maj Ponung Doming deserves due recognition for the first Arunachalee women Major in Indian Army Maj. Ponung Doming of Pasighat, East Siang District deserves due recognition from the state government as many celebrity have already been conferred and given recognition by the state government who made the state proud and brought laurel.
Major Ponung Doming, daughter of Alom Doming and Jimi Dai Doming of GTC Tebo village, Pasighat, East Siang District, made the state proud when she became the first Lieutenant in Indian Army in September in 2008.
Elevated to post of Major in just four and half years, she made the state made proud as she was selected for the United Nation (UN) Peach Keeping Force (PKF) training at Congo, Central Africa for one year.
It is worth mentioning here that Major Ponung Doming did her Engineering from Walchand
College of Engineering, Maharastra in 2001-
Later, she worked in L&T Company as a Senior Engineer for two years at Kolkata. In 2008 she joined the Indian Army.
Despite all, she is waiting for due recognition from the state.
